Whether newborns or adults: the discomfort, symptoms and diagnoses are the same. There is only one difference: many childhood visual defects can only be fully treated up to the age of 6, and a positive impact is possible by the age of 12. In addition, untreated visual impairment can lead to learning difficulties and behavioural abnormalities, or amplify ADD, ADHD and dyslexia symptoms. For this reason, we recommend screening between the ages of 6 and 12 months, at 3 years, and before starting school. Thereafter, regular check-ups, especially in relation to visual acuity and spatial vision, are recommended.
